Traditionaly sprung seat

I thought this picture might be interesting for you to look at! Just one example of the kind of work that goes into a traditional seat. It has been webbed, then double cone springs have been hand stitched in place, then the springs have been lashed together with laid cord, this allows the springs to move together as a unit and gives the seat more stregnth.

Armchair

1880's Iron Back Chair

This chair did test me a little, not only is it deep buttoned, but also because it has an 'Iron Back', everything had to be stitched on by hand! The chair has been fully re-upholstered using traditional tecnique's. In this day and age we normally use staples, but for this perticular project , the customer wanted it to stay as original as possible, so I used tacks to pin everything down!......old school!

Honda bike seat.....finished!!

This has been done in a two tone effect vinyl, also with a check like pattern engraved in the vinyl.

Honda moped bike seat.

As you can see.....it look's a litte worse for wear!!

Traditional Armchair .....re-upholstered!

Here the chair has been fully re-upholstered using traditional methods and materials such as horse hair for the padding. I also took the chair back to the bare frame, then I repaired the woodwork and glued the joints back together as they were loose. Im very pleased to say Wendy was very pleased with the work done.

Traditional Armchair

This is a traditionaly upholstered armchair which belongs to a good friend of mines mother, Wendy. This chair meant alot to Wendy for personal reasons, and wanted the chair re-upholstered and bringing back to life!
